JUSTIN MALKIN MA, NCC, EMDR

Resistant to therapy? Feel like you will never find a therapist you can ever trust? I agree that if we are not ready or do not trust in therapy, little to no progress can be made. I provide a safe and confidential environment where building a strong therapeutic relationship between you and me is key to success. If we are not a perfect match, allow me to take the time to find a provider who meets your expectations.

I believe that stress (past, present, and future) is the main source of maladaptive behavior, as well as homicidal and suicidal thoughts. I use educational tools that are based on the stress model that help to teach children, adolescents, parents and caregivers alternative techniques when attempting to repair damaged family dynamics in times of stress. I also use an in-depth love and logic model when educating parents, families, and children; helping them identify inner self control, strength, and assertiveness. My main goal is to provide individuals and families with therapeutic techniques that help to make sure that all systems are working together to help provide the most therapeutic environment for all individuals.

I provide individualized counseling for children, adolescences, and adults experiencing Anxiety, Depressions and thoughts or actions of self-harm. I also work extremely well with families and couples helping to develop effective support, identify goals, and processing family challenges as they arise. Primary, my techniques when working with individuals as well as within a family system is using an integrated approach, combining both Solution Focused Therapy with Cognitive-Behavioral techniques such as play therapy and positive reinforcement. These approaches help to rebuild an individual’s and families foundation, setting them up for success, not only today, but also in the future. Instead of putting a Band-Aid on the present, I believe that with Cognitive-Behavioral techniques, we can protect ourselves from future hardship by learning and using these preventative therapeutic skills.
